01. Why do I need a guardian?

Boarding schools usually require that international students under 18 have a UK-based guardian. This guardian acts as the local representative and primary contact during emergencies, school holidays, and other needs.

02. What is the role of a guardian?

A guardian acts as a student's local representative in the UK when the parents are abroad. They can provide academic support, assistance with travel and accommodation, emergency contact, and general advice. They can also liaise with the school on the parents' behalf and attend school meetings when necessary.

03. How can you support my child academically?

A guardian supports a student academically by keeping regular contact with the school to monitor the student's academic progress and welfare. They attend parents’ meetings, correspond with teachers, help in educational choices, and offer support during exam periods.

04. How can you support my child during holidays?

During holidays, your child's guardian will arrange homestays or host family accommodation if your child is unable to return home. They can also arrange transportation to and from the airport, and organise holiday activities and trips.

05. How often will you communicate with us?

The frequency of communication can be tailored to your needs. Typically, guardians send regular reports and updates about your child's academic progress, wellbeing, and activities. They are also available to discuss any concerns or issues you may have.

06. What happens in case of an emergency?

In an emergency, the guardian acts as the first point of contact. They will communicate with the school, medical professionals, and you, ensuring that your child is safe and taken care of. They will also make decisions on your behalf if you are unable to do so.

07. What qualifications do homestays have?

Homestay providers are typically well-educated and experienced in child care, education, or related fields. They undergo rigorous background checks and training to ensure they can provide the best support to your child.
